Poetry

I had an interaction with a man recently that left me compelled to write this poem.

I Am Not My Cunt

I am not my cunt. My cunt is not me.

My cunt is just one piece of me.

My cunt is mine and I am mine.

Only I am entitled to my cunt.

Only I am entitled to my pleasure.

I am entitled to my pleasure.

My cunt is mine.

My pleasure is mine.

My cunt gives pleasure, and

My cunt gives me pleasure.

Only I choose,

who pleasures my cunt, and

who my cunt pleasures

Only I choose,

who loves my cunt, and

who my cunt loves.

Only I choose

the love I receive,

love conceived

by we.

I am not my cunt,

My cunt is not me,

My cunt is mine,

as I am mine,

On-ly.

Backstory on "Cunt"

As a feminist artist, I aim to challenge societal norms, ignite conversations, and promote the reclamation of language. Through my work, I acknowledge the historical context of the word "cunt" and its impact on women, recognizing the oppressive history that surrounds it.

In celebrating empowerment and agency, my art becomes a canvas for self-expression, body positivity, and the unapologetic ownership of one's sexuality. By reclaiming "cunt," I seek to dismantle the stigmas that society has imposed upon female sexuality and assert the right for all individuals to embrace their bodies without shame or judgment.

My art catalyzes change, challenging societal taboos and highlighting the double standards that persist in discussions around female sexuality. By questioning these norms, I invite viewers to confront their attitudes and beliefs, sparking dialogue and promoting a more inclusive and respectful understanding of gender and sexuality.

Inclusivity and intersectionality are at the core of my artistic vision. I recognize that experiences of gender and sexuality are diverse, and I strive to ensure that the reappropriation of "cunt" encompasses the voices and identities of all individuals. I explore the interconnectedness of feminism with other social justice movements, recognizing that our fight for equality extends beyond gender.

Collaboration and engagement are vital to my artistic practice. By collaborating with fellow feminist artists and engaging with feminist communities, I aim to amplify the impact of my message. Together, we create a powerful platform for reappropriation, fostering meaningful discussions that challenge preconceived notions and dismantle the power dynamics embedded in language and society.

Through my art, I seek to empower, educate, and inspire. I believe that reclaiming language is an act of resistance and a step towards a more equitable world. By embracing the reclamation of "cunt" as a feminist artist, I contribute to a larger movement of change, promoting self-love, inclusivity, and the liberation of all bodies and identities.
